Ed Sheeran will have to stand trial in the US over claims he copied Marvin Gaye’s “Let’s Get It On” to create his song “Thinking Out Loud”
The original lawsuit was filed in 2018 by a company that own a partial stake in Marvin Gaye’s 1973 song.
Since then, Ed has made multiple attempts to get the case dismissed but now a judge says a jury should decide on the similarities.
The company are seeking $100 million in damages alleging Ed and his co-writer “copied and exploited, without authorization or credit” to the song.
