UAE Ambassador to the United Nations (UN), Mohamed Abushahab, highlighted the role of disarmament and non-proliferation agreements in promoting peace, during the UN General Assembly's Disarmament and International Security Committee’s (DISEC) General Debate.
The Emirati diplomat said he affirmed support for a nuclear-free zone in the Middle East.
He also reiterated the call to end the war on Gaza and escalation in Lebanon, emphasising the need for multilateral action and international cooperation to break the cycle of violence.
DISEC is the First Committee of the United Nations General Assembly. The committee concerns itself with questions of international importance regarding security and demilitarization throughout all countries and regions.
