Authorities are warning residents about bank scams currently making the rounds in the UAE.
According to the UAE Central Bank (CBUAE), fraudulent activities are increasing as more people are engaged with COVID-19 news and updates.
In a statement, the central bank cautioned consumers about sharing private information such as personal and bank account details.
It has also clarified that they rarely conduct phone calls, unless a consumer has lodged an official complaint.
Officials have also instructed people to refrain from answering or engaging in these phone calls, clicking on unknown web-links and forwarding false news from deceitful sources.
They added that they are working with the relevant authorities to find ways to put an end to these fraudulent activities.
