Under the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the UAE has provided support for the World Health Organisation’s (WHO) efforts to contain the Ebola outbreak in Africa.

The assistance has been channelled through the UAE Agency for International Aid.

Minister of State Sheikh Shakhboot bin Nahyan Al Nahyan said the UAE remains committed to responding quickly to humanitarian and health crises around the world, working alongside governments and international organisations to combat diseases and protect communities.

He noted that the current outbreak involves the Bundibugyo strain of the Ebola virus, which health authorities say poses a serious risk of spreading across parts of Africa.

The UAE is continuing to provide medical assistance to affected communities, including support for treatment, vaccines and essential medicines, while working with international partners to strengthen healthcare services and contain the spread of the virus.
