More than 30 new initiatives and national programmes aimed at supporting people with special needs in the UAE have been approved.
His Highness Sheikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, made the announcement at a retreat for People of Determination in Abu Dhabi.
The initiatives involve mobilising resources in eight different areas including sports, health, education and labour.
The UAE's leaders have also received the Special Olympics Flame of Hope.
His Highness Sheikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and His Highness Sheikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces joined the countdown to the Games, which begins on Thursday.

They received the iconic torch at the Presidential Place in Abu Dhabi where a retreat for People of Determination was being held.
