The Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure has announced the adoption of the latest technical specifications from the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air-Conditioning Engineers to enhance indoor air quality in government buildings across the UAE.

This initiative aims to improve public health by controlling airborne infectious agents and ensuring that indoor spaces are safe and healthy.

The new standards will play a vital role in making infrastructure projects more resilient to airborne pollutants, with a focus on energy efficiency and occupant well-being.

The UAE’s first pilot project implementing ASHRAE Standards 241 and 62.1-2022, the Daba Fujairah Court and Prosecution project, demonstrated significant results, improving air quality and reducing energy use by 35% in mechanical ventilation systems.

The MoEI reaffirmed its commitment to implementing these standards nationwide, positioning the UAE as a leader in sustainable infrastructure development and public health initiatives.
