UAE issues special coins to honour Sheikh Zayed and Sheikh Rashid

The Central Bank of the UAE (CBUAE) has unveiled gold and silver commemorative coins to honour the legacies of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, and Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum.

It will embody their role in the founding of the Union, and reinforce national identity and loyalty among the local community.

The gold coin with a 40mm diameter will feature the faces of the two leaders on one side, and the UAE national emblem with the Central Bank of the United Arab Emirates inscribed around it in Arabic and English. It will weigh 40 gm and will be available for purchase exclusively through the Central Bank's headquarters in Abu Dhabi.

The silver coin will feature the same design in a 50 mm diameter, alongside the phrase "Commemorative Coin" in Arabic. It will weigh 50 grams and will be available for purchase via the Central Bank's official website. It will be valued at AED 100.

"This issuance marks the Zayed and Rashid campaign, aiming to solidify the values of unity and development upon which our nation was founded, and to highlight inspiring milestones in their journeys. We reaffirm our commitment to immortalising our national history and fostering it in the hearts of future generations," said Khaled Mohamed Balama, Governor of the CBUAE.
