Ras Al Khaimah's public transport network is getting a smart makeover.
As part of the trial phase launched by the Ras Al Khaimah Transport Authority (RAKTA), smart cameras are being installed in public buses and taxis.
The project also includes a smart meter system for taxis, powered by artificial intelligence (AI), which will be linked to a smart control centre that keeps track of bus and taxi fleets in real-time.
The initiative is aimed at improving security and safety levels in the emirate's public transportation system.
It will also help authorities reduce traffic accidents and customer complaints, and track down lost items.
