Authorities in Sharjah are ramping up plans to strengthen the emirate's electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure.
Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority has teamed with up environmental management company BEEAH to accelerate the roll-out of EV charging points.
Hundreds of chargers will be deployed across the emirate in strategic locations along highways and in multiple districts, covering key commercial and urban areas.
The initiative is in line with the National Electric Vehicles Policy, which aims to increase the share of EVs to 50 per cent of total vehicles on UAE roads by 2050.
BEEAH will work with the Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority (SRTA) to plan, develop, and install a network of hundreds of EV chargers, including fast chargers, in strategic locations across the Emirate.#electricvehiclecharging #GreenTransport #EVcharger pic.twitter.com/AP52ky1qR0
