The Sharjah Private Education Authority (SPEA) have announced that administrative and teaching staff in private schools and nurseries across the emirate will resume work on Wednesday, April 15.

In a post on SPEA's official X account, they added that subject to the completion of staff training and emergency and crisis readiness, nurseries located in government facilities and commercial buildings in the emirate will be ready to receive children from Thursday, April 16.

This announcement, based on a decision by the Education, Human Development and Community Development Council, marks a key step in the phased return to in-person early childhood education.

This also comes after Dubai announced they would be following suit, subject to approval, with the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) stating: "The safety and wellbeing of students, staff, and the wider community remain the highest priority."

Distance learning was first introduced on March 2 following Iran’s attacks on the UAE and other Gulf countries. The arrangement was initially set to run until March 6 before officials extended it until further notice.
