A car thief has been arrested and the stolen car recovered within two hours of Sharjah Police receiving the report, setting a new record for the force.
According to a statement from the police, the owner of the car had left the engine on, and stepped out of the car when the incident occurred on Thursday evening.
Specialised teams immediately launched a search operation, and were able to track the vehicle and the location of the suspect.
The suspect has been referred to higher authorities for further legal action.
Sharjah Police warned of the dangers of leaving the car engine running when no one is in the vehicle.
