No evidence of COVID-19 spreading through mail or parcels: WHO

SUPPLIED: WAM

Experts have addressed the concerns about spread of the pandemic through mail and parcels.

There is no evidence that COVID-19, is spreading through mail or parcels, according to state news agency, WAM.

The World Health Organisation (WHO)  and US Centres for Disease Control and Prevention are both quoted in a report that says COVID-19 is mostly spread from droplets produced when an infected person coughs or sneezes, which are inhaled by people nearby.

The report says risks are very low that COVID-19 will remain on envelopes or packages and infect anyone who handles them.

They say it’s still a good idea to regularly wash hands for 20 seconds and avoid touching your face after handling deliveries, according to WAM.
