New Dubai Trade Centre bridges slash journey times to two minutes

RTA

Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has opened two new bridges at Trade Centre Roundabout, cutting journey times by up to 80 per cent and easing congestion at one of the city’s busiest junctions.

The bridges have opened a month ahead of schedule as part of the Trade Centre Roundabout Development Project, dramatically improving traffic flow between 2nd December Street, Sheikh Rashid Street and Al Majlis Street.

They reduce travel time from around 10 minutes to just two minutes, while average delays at the intersection have dropped from 12 minutes to 90 seconds. Together, the bridges can carry around 6,000 vehicles per hour.

The wider project will replace the roundabout with an ntersection and deliver five bridges spanning 5,000 metres, strengthening links between Sheikh Zayed Road, Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Street, Zabeel Palace Street and surrounding areas.

RTA says the project, valued at over AED 696 million, is progressing faster than planned, with almost 50 per cent already complete. Another bridge linking Sheikh Zayed Road to Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Street is due to open in March, with two more scheduled for October 2026.

Once fully completed, the upgrade is expected to significantly ease congestion for more than 500,000 residents and visitors, serving key hubs including Dubai World Trade Centre, DIFC, Downtown Dubai and nearby residential communities.
