A man has been arrested in connection with a hit-and-run incident that took place on Wednesday in Sharjah's Wadi Al Helo area of Kalba city.
Police said the victim, a 38-year-old Emirati man who worked within the Sharjah government, had parked his vehicle by the side of the road while undertaking his work duties.
A car travelling at high speed collided with his vehicle, which then hit the man. Paramedics rushed the victim to the hospital, but he later succumbed to his injuries.
Investigations revealed the person responsible was overcome by sleepiness, which led him to lose control of his vehicle.
He has been referred to the Public Prosecution for legal action.
Sharjah Police have reminded drivers to stop and rest in a traffic-safe area if they feel tired and exhausted.
