Dubai Police have confirmed the arrest of several individuals following disturbances after a UAE Pro League match between Al Wasl and Shabab Al Ahli football clubs.

Major General Abdullah Ali Al Ghaithi, Assistant Commander-in-Chief for Operations Affairs at Dubai Police, said an immediate investigation was launched after the match, using surveillance footage to identify those involved.

Legal action has been taken, and the suspects have been referred to the relevant authorities.

Major General Al Ghaithi stressed the importance of keeping stadiums safe and respectful, urging fans to avoid unruly behaviour.

He also praised the efforts of police teams in maintaining order and providing security at stadiums, warning that any breach of fan conduct or safety rules will be met with firm legal action.

In a related move, the UAE Football Association’s Disciplinary Committee has issued fines following its review of the incident:

  • Shabab Al Ahli Club was fined AED 70,000 for fans verbally abusing rival supporters and throwing bottles onto the pitch and at other fans.
  • Al Wasl Club was fined AED 80,000 after its supporters lit a smoke flare, directed offensive chants at opponents, and threw objects onto the field and toward spectators.
