In a remarkable display of international cooperation, Dubai Police have successfully recovered and returned a jewellery bag worth over AED 1.1 million to a UAE resident.
The recovery followed close coordination with Bangladeshi authorities and the UAE Embassy in Dhaka, after a Dubai-based jeweller reported the loss.
The jeweller had travelled to a GCC country for an exhibition, carrying four bags of diamond jewellery. Upon arrival, he realised one of the bags wasn’t his.
He returned to Dubai immediately and filed a report. An investigation revealed that a Bangladeshi traveller had mistakenly taken the jeweller’s bag during security checks, as both bags looked nearly identical.
Acting swiftly, Dubai Police coordinated with officials in Dhaka. The bag was located and returned safely to the UAE.
Dubai Police thanked the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and UAE Ambassador to Bangladesh, Abdulla Al Hamoudi, for their support. They also praised the professionalism of all parties involved, reaffirming their commitment to strong international law enforcement partnerships.
The jeweller, moved by the quick resolution, expressed deep gratitude, saying the authorities' dedication was "beyond commendable."
