Dubai Economy says it issued nine warnings last week to outlets who failed to follow safety measures against COVID-19.
Its Commercial Compliance and Consumer Protection (CCCP) division visited 41 outlets to ensure that they followed social distancing, and that staff and shoppers wore masks and gloves.
Their team of inspectors also checked whether security teams were directing shoppers to avoid crowding, and that there were awareness posters about the preventive measures on display.
Consumers are being urged to report shops who flout these rules.
