Dubai cracks down on unsafe delivery riders

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), in coordination with multiple government agencies, has carried out more than 1,000 inspections targeting delivery motorcycles across the emirate.

The campaign, conducted alongside Dubai Police, the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation, Dubai Municipality, and the Dubai Health Authority, aimed to enhance public safety and ensure compliance with delivery sector regulations.

The RTA’s Licensing Agency's CEO, Ahmed Mahboob, said the inspections focused on busy areas like Downtown Dubai, Jumeirah and Motor City.

Violations ranged from riders not wearing protective gear, to operating without required training certificates, and reckless driving. A total of 19 motorcycles were impounded.

To support rider awareness, the RTA also distributed QR codes linking to safety videos and training materials.

Mahboob emphasised the importance of companies following all regulations to ensure a safe, efficient and sustainable environment for delivery operations.

He added that the RTA will continue joint inspection and awareness campaigns as part of its ongoing efforts to improve road safety and service quality across the city.
