Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority has launched a major inspection campaign focused on trailer safety, targeting heavy vehicles across key routes in the emirate during the first quarter of 2025.

The initiative, led by the RTA’s Licensing Activities Monitoring Department, carried out over 2,600 field inspections at strategic points including Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road and Emirates Road.

The goal is to ensure trailers and semi-trailers meet strict technical and safety standards.

A total of 177 trailers were checked for tyre condition, brake performance, lighting systems and licence validity.

The campaign uncovered 134 technical faults and issued 88 violations, including for unroadworthy tyres, defective lighting, lack of reflective stickers, and unsafe loading practices.

Ahmed Mahboob, CEO of the RTA’s Licensing Agency, said the campaign is part of an annual plan to boost road safety through ongoing inspections and public awareness.

He emphasised the importance of regular vehicle maintenance and strict compliance with safety laws to protect all road users.
