A truck driver was injured in a collision on Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road after reportedly falling asleep at the wheel, prompting a strong warning from Dubai Police.
The accident happened just before the Al Maktoum Airport roundabout, in the direction of Abu Dhabi, and led to major traffic delays as emergency teams worked to clear the scene and divert vehicles to alternative routes.
Brigadier Jumaa bin Suwaidan, Director of Dubai Police’s General Department of Traffic, said that the driver lost control due to extreme fatigue, crashing into another truck ahead.
He urged drivers to rest adequately before getting behind the wheel and to pull over immediately if they feel tired.
Authorities continue to investigate the incident and are reminding motorists to stay alert and follow safety guidelines to protect themselves and others on the road.
