A mobile drive-through test centre for COVID-19 has been set up in Abu Dhabi for all community members.
His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, opened the facility set up by the Abu Dhabi Health Services (SEHA) in collaboration with the Department of Health.
Upon arriving at the facility, he received a welcome in-car audio note and was told to prepare his ID in order for staff to digitally scan it for registration. A nasal swab was then collected from the Crown Prince for testing purposes.
The facility, which will operate from 8:00 am until 8:00 pm on weekdays, is located in Sheikh Zayed Sports City and can provide services to around 600 people daily.
Priority for the five-minute testing procedure will be given to senior citizens, pregnant women and people with chronic diseases.
Each test costs AED370 and results get sent to residents and citizens via SMS or through the SEHA app.
The initiative makes the UAE the fifth nation in the world to implement a drive-through service, accelerating the testing process for the nation’s population.
The new service will be offered for Thiqa and non-Thiqa card holders, ensuring that testing facilities are available to everyone.
