Around 100 beachgoers have been fined in Dubai for not complying with the precautionary measures related to COVID-19.

They were pulled up for not wearing masks and failing to maintain a safe distance from others.

Officials say the violations were reported during the first three days of beaches reopening on Friday, but the compliance rate has improved since then.

People are not permitted to gather in groups of more than five at the beach, while a two-metre distance must be maintained between individuals and a four metre-distance between groups.

According to the rules, violators must pay AED 3,000 fine.
