Monday marks ten years since the UAE launched its first satellite into space.
DubaiSat-1 supports the Emirate’s urban planning efforts by sending high quality aerial images back to city planners.
The earth observation satellite was developed in 2009 by a team consisting of Emirati and Korean engineers.
It also plays a key role in supporting relief efforts in areas devastated by earthquakes and tsunami like the one that hit Japan in 2011.
