Authorities in Turkey have detained 149 people over suspected links to the network that orchestrated a failed coup in 2016.

According to state-owned Anadolu news agency, 74 of the detained were previously sacked from the security forces, while another 24 are still on active duty.

US-based cleric Fethullah Gulen, who Ankara claims to be responsible for the coup attempt, has denied involvement.

Since July 2016, officials have detained about 80,000 people and sacked or suspended some 150,000 civil servants, military personnel and others.
