Taylor Swift donates 250k to Kesha

Taylor Swift has donated $250,000 to Kesha. The 'Blank Space' hitmaker wanted to display a "show of support" to her fellow pop star - who a court ruled on Friday (19.02.16) cannot break her exclusive contract with Dr. Luke despite her claims the producer sexually abused her - and has been praised by the 'Tik Tok' singer's mother, Pebe Sebert. Pebe tweeted: "Taylor Swift has just generously donated $250,000 to Kesha, as a show of support during this difficult time. AMAZING!! "A persons wealth is not measured by what they have but by WHO they they help with it. And Taylor Swift is is a truly RICH PERSON. Thank you. "Most important for Kesha, is that these beautiful, powerful women are standing behind her, letting the world see how powerful the truth is!(sic)" Following the news of Taylor's generosity, Demi Lovato triggered a backlash for appearing to criticise the wealthy star. She tweeted: "Take something to Capitol Hill or actually speak out about something and then I'll be impressed." However, she later insisted she "didn't shade" the 'Shake It Off' singer - who is worth an estimated $80 million - but felt frustrated at people who refuse to have "uncomfortable conversations" though are happy to use "feminism" to "further [their] brands". She wrote on Instagram: "I didn't shade Taylor. If you take it that way than fine. "I'm just tired of seeing women use 'women empowerment' and 'feminism' to further brands without actually being the ones that have the uncomfortable conversations. "I get shade and I don't care because someone has to be the one to take it. At least I'm getting my hands dirty." And the 'Cool For The Summer' singer insisted she didn't have the money to "just give" away, but would rather speak bluntly than try to be "politically correct 24/7." She wrote: "At least I'm talking about it. Not everyone has 250k to just give to people. Would love to but I didn't grow up with money and def haven't made as much as her. "At least I speak up about stuff that's uncomfortable to talk about rather than trying to be politically correct 24/7. "here's no 'rivalry' I just care more than other people and would rather start a dialogue ABOUT WOMEN COMING FORWARD ABOUT BEING RAPED than throw money at one person.(sic)"
