Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson has been named as the world’s highest paid actor, according to Forbes. The former WWE wrestler knocked former front runner Robert Downey Jr from the top spot, with earnings of nearly 297 million Dirhams in the last twelve months, mostly from upfront fees from movies ‘Central Intelligence’, ‘Fast 8’ and ‘Baywatch’. Martial arts expert Jackie Chan came in second place, with Matt Damon third, who had 120% increase in his earnings, thanks largely to ‘The Martian’. Tom Cruise entered the list at number four, with troubled actor Johnny Depp coming in at five. Four Bollywood actors made the list, with Shah Rukh Khan being the top ranked Indian actor coming in at number ten and earning just over 121 million Dirhams. Askshay Kumar, Salman Khan and Amitabh Bachchan also featured in the rankings. The only returnee to the list was Harrison Ford, thanks to his role as Han Solo in Star Wars Episode 7: The Force Awakens – he hadn’t featured since 2009.
