Indian singer Arijit Singh has announced that he is stepping away from playback singing, in a move that has stunned millions of fans.
In messages shared on his private X account and later confirmed on Instagram, Arijit said he will no longer take on new playback assignments, calling the decision "a wonderful journey" coming to an end.
He thanked listeners for their support over the years and clarified that while he is retiring from film playback, he will continue making music independently and will complete his pending projects.
The announcement comes just days after the release of his track 'Maatrubhumi' from the film 'Battle of Galwan', adding to the surprise felt across the industry.
