Replacement Samsung 7 catches fire during flight

The Samsung Galaxy Note 7

A replacement model of the fire-prone Samsung Galaxy Note 7 smartphone began smoking inside a plane on Wednesday, its owner said. Brian Green’s handset began emitting fumes during a Southwest Airlines flight to Baltimore, his wife Sarah told a major news agency. She said he had replaced the original phone about a fortnight ago after getting a text message from the South Korean firm, which issued a global recall in September after faulty batteries caused some handsets to ignite. Complications with the revised Note 7 would be a huge embarrassment for Samsung, the world’s largest smartphone manufacturer.
