Elon Musk's sister claims she gets overcharged because of her name

Tosca Musk, sister of Tesla billionaire Elon Musk, recently voiced her frustration at being overcharged simply because she shares a last name with the world's richest man.

In an exclusive interview with the DailyMail, the renowned filmmaker and founder of Passionflix, a streaming service and production company specialising in romantic movies, disclosed her experiences of being overcharged by filming locations due to assumptions about her family's wealth.

Recounting a recent incident while attempting to book a set location, Tosca revealed, "The location was going to cost $5,000 a day. But when they heard my name and assumed we were rich, they decided to charge us $25,000. That's not exactly fair, is it?"

Acknowledging the duality of her situation, she described her surname as both "a blessing and a curse" but affirmed that she would never consider changing it.

Elon Musk, with an estimated net worth of approximately $192 billion, recently surpassed French multi-billionaire Bernard Arnault as the world's wealthiest individual.

Tosca, however, clarified that misconceptions about her brother's wealth persist, as many people believe he inherited his fortune. "Everyone assumes my eldest brother pays for everything, but he does not," she stated. When questioned about any potential contributions from Elon to her production company, Tosca admitted the complexity of the situation, describing it as a "double-edged sword".

"It's challenging to answer whether my brother has helped me in any way because either response carries implications," she explained, adding that she constantly encounters individuals seeking a connection to her tech billionaire brother.

Apart from Elon, 51, the Musk family comprises their mother, Maye, 75, a dietician and former Sports Illustrated model, as well as Tosca's 50-year-old brother Kimbal, a restaurateur and the founder of The Kitchen Restaurant Group. Tosca's parents, including their father Errol, a South African engineer and former emerald mine owner, divorced in 1979.
