A seven-member gang has been arrested in Abu Dhabi following an intense operation over the last four months.
Teams from Abu Dhabi Police said the criminal network was on the verge of striking a sales deal for 1.2 million narcotic pills when they were caught.
According to Colonel Tahir Ghreb Al-Zahri, director of the Anti-Drug Directorate, the officers were closely monitoring the movement of the gang members between the emirates.
The first arrest led to the seizure of 120,000 narcotic pills and to another key member of the criminal network, who officials say, was in charge of the sales.
Further investigations led to the other members of the gang, and to the warehouse where the drugs were stored.
