UAE sets up health camp for children with congenital heart disease in Zanzibar

Around 250 children with congenital heart disease in Zanzibar are undergoing specialised tests and treatment at the UAE's newly launched medical camp in the Tanzanian town.

It comes under the Emirates Red Crescent's "Nahr Al Hayat Fund" to cover the cost of specialised healthcare for children. 

Following the initial assessments, a treatment plan was set up for children requiring heart surgeries. With some set to be operated in Tanzania, while the more complex cases transferred to specialised cardiac hospitals in India.

Meanwhile, children needing longer-term treatment will be given follow-up care.
