The UAE has started issuing employment visas for vital government and semi-government sectors, as well as entry permits for domestic workers.

That's according to the latest announcement by the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship in coordination with the National Emergency Crisis and Disasters Management Authority (NCEMA).

Applicants can submit applications via the authority's website (ica.gov.ae) and must present a negative COVID-19 test before arrival into the country. That's not all, employers are also required to ensure they follow a 14-day quarantine upon arrival.

The authority said the decision also takes into account the precautionary measures being undertaken by the travel industry to reduce the spread of COVID-19.

The issuance of new entry permits was suspended in March due to the pandemic.
