UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has taken part in a joint call with leaders of the US, Bahrain, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Egypt, Turkey and Pakistan to discuss regional developments and efforts to advance diplomatic solutions.
According to national news agency Wam, the call was attended by US President Donald Trump, Bahrain's King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa of Bahrain, Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Jordan's King Abdullah II bin Al Hussein, Egypt's Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and Turkey's Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar; and Field Marshal Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff of Pakistan also joined the call.
The leaders reportedly discussed the memorandum of understanding on a peace deal between the US and Iran that would reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
