UAE President, German Chancellor reaffirm strategic partnership

UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz have discussed ways to further strengthen the strategic partnership between the UAE and Germany.

The talks took place at the Federal Chancellery in Berlin during Sheikh Mohamed’s state visit to Germany, with discussions covering cooperation across key economic, technological and cultural fields.

Sheikh Mohamed said the UAE views its relationship with Germany as a long-term strategic partnership, built over more than five decades on cooperation, trust and shared interests.

He also expressed confidence that the Strategic Dialogue announced during his visit will provide a new framework for expanding the wide-ranging partnership between the two countries.

The leaders also discussed the upcoming 2026 UN Water Conference, which will be hosted by the UAE.

Sheikh Mohamed highlighted Germany’s important role in the conference and praised its contribution to global efforts to advance water sustainability.

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to developing bilateral relations and building on the progress achieved in recent years.

Regional and international issues of mutual interest were also discussed, particularly developments in the Middle East.

The two leaders stressed the importance of advancing peace and stability across the region, describing them as essential foundations for development and prosperity.

Sheikh Mohamed and Merz also affirmed that UAE-Germany cooperation is guided by a shared commitment to creating a safer, more stable and prosperous future for generations to come.

The meeting was attended by His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Sultan bin Ahmed Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology, and other senior officials.
