UAE joins 7 other countries in rejecting displacement of Palestinians from Gaza

The UAE joined Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Jordan, Indonesia, Pakistan, Türkiye and Egypt on Sunday in a coordinated statement rejecting proposals to forcibly displace Palestinians from the Gaza Strip.

The foreign ministers of the eight countries strongly condemned statements made by Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir and Defence Minister Israel Katz regarding the displacement of Palestinians, including proposals for plans and mechanisms to remove people from their land.

They said such proposals violate international law, including international humanitarian law, and pose a threat to the rights of the Palestinian people.

The ministers reiterated their rejection of any attempts or plans to displace Palestinians, either within or outside the Occupied Palestinian Territory.

They also warned that turning calls for forced displacement into policy or concrete measures would undermine international efforts to achieve peace.

The statement specifically cited US President Donald Trump's Comprehensive Plan to End the Gaza Conflict, noting its rejection of forced displacement.

The ministers said the Gaza Strip is an integral part of the Occupied Palestinian Territory and called for the unity of Gaza and the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, to be preserved.

They reiterated that a two-state solution remains the only path towards a just and lasting peace, with an independent Palestinian state along the lines of June 4 1967 and East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with relevant international resolutions.

The eight countries also called on the international community, particularly the United Nations Security Council, to oppose attempts to impose a new demographic or geographic reality in the Occupied Palestinian Territory and ensure respect for international law.
