On International Youth Day, the Central Bank of the UAE (CBUAE) has unveiled silver commemorative coins in recognition of the pivotal role that young people play in shaping the country's future.

The coins, weighing 60gm each, will feature an image of the UAE's Founding Father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, on the front, alongside an excerpt from one of his famous poems that shines the spotlight on empowering the youth to build a nation.

The back of the coin will display an image of the UAE Central Bank building, along with its value of AED 50.

International Youth Day is marked every year on August 12.

The coins embody the UAE’s appreciation for its youth, and pays tribute to the vision of the late Sheikh Zayed, added Saif Humaid Al Dhaheri, Assistant Governor of the Central Bank for Banking Operations and Support Services.

The Central Bank said details on when the coins will be released and go on sale online will be announced later.
