A UAE-funded medical research centre is inching closer to finding a cure for a common childhood cancer. Doctors at the Sheikh Zayed Institute for Paediatric Surgical Innovation in Washington have discovered a method to treat neuroblastoma tumours in mice. Researchers believe a therapeutic patient-specific vaccine will be available soon. Neuroblastoma is the third most common tumor in childhood, and the most common cancer in babies younger than one year old.
