UAE expresses solidarity with China following Tibet earthquake

The UAE has expressed its condolences and solidarity with China following the deadly earthquake in Tibet, which has led to dozens of deaths and injuries.

In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs extended heartfelt sympathy to the Chinese government and its people, offering condolences to the families of the victims and wishing a swift recovery to those injured.

At least 126 people were known to have been killed and 188 injured on the Tibetan side, China's state-run Xinhua news agency reported.

The magnitude 6.8 earthquake struck the foothills of the Himalayas near one of Tibet's holiest cities.

Its epicentre was about 80 km (50 miles) north of Mount Everest, the world's highest mountain. Tremors also shook buildings in neighbouring Nepal, Bhutan and India.
