The United Arab Emirates has expressed its strong condemnation and denunciation of the terrorist plots that were foiled in Morocco on Monday.
Moroccan security authorities arrested 10 extremists linked to the Daesh terrorist organisation's branch in the African Sahel during simultaneous operations in several cities.
Searches uncovered bladed weapons, military uniforms, chemicals for making explosive devices and a modified four-wheel-drive vehicle allegedly intended for use in a suicide bombing or ramming attack against sensitive targets.
Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, affirmed the UAE’s full solidarity with Morocco, and its support for all measures taken to protect its security and stability and ensure the safety of its citizens and residents.
Sheikh Abdullah also praised the efficiency and vigilance of the Moroccan security services that succeeded in thwarting these plots which aimed to seriously undermine public order.
He stressed the UAE’s categorical rejection of all forms of terrorism and extremism, and anything that would undermine the security and stability of countries, emphasising the importance of strengthening regional and international cooperation to address and confront these threats.
