A Suburban Police Point has opened in Dubai's Al Lesaily township.

The self-service centre is an SPS (Smart Police Station), which provides 27 key police services and 33 additional services in seven languages.

It was inaugurated by Lieutenant General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-chief of Dubai Police in the presence of Muhammad Sultan bin Markhan Al Ketbi, Director of the Zabeel Office of His Highness the Ruler of Dubai, and a number of senior officials.

Lt. Gen. Al Marri said the new facility has been launched in line with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to make the Dubai government a smart, forward-looking one.

It is also aligned with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Crown Prince and Chairman of the Executive Council of Dubai, of transforming the emirate into a gateway to the future.

Major General Khalil Ibrahim Al Mansouri, Assistant Commander-in-Chief for Criminal Investigation Affairs added that the Police Point is part of the force’s strategy to create new communication channels with community members in various residential zones and to provide them with various services 24|7.

"A recent survey, conducted by the Community Development Authority (CDA) and the Dubai Statistics Centre, has shown that 98 per cent of Dubai residents are confident with their neighbouring police stations and the security and social services they provide," Lt. Gen. Al Marri explained.

"Dubai Police Smart Stations (SPS) have attracted international delegations from policing agencies, celebrities, and VIPs to experience one of the pioneering and unique policing projects and to learn from Dubai Police best practices in providing the best services to the society," said Brigadier Khalid Nasser Al Razooqi, Director of the General Department of Artificial Intelligence at Dubai Police.

More than 7,790 residents of 12 different nationalities live in Al Lesaily area, which also has 1,400 'Ezbas' (a plot of land in the desert or the mountains that has camels or goat pens, housing for caretakers and large indoor and outdoor majlises where owners gather at weekends), veterinary clinics, pharmacies, feed stores, minimarkets, restaurants, and shops.

"Al Lesaily Police Point is the third of its kind as two other points were recently launched in Al Eyas and Hatta. The Suburban Police Points aim to enhance the security presence in the residential areas, cut the response time, and to expand security coverage in Dubai suburbs," said Brigadier Abdullah Khadim bin Suroor Al Mesam, Director of Bur Dubai Police Station and Chairman of the Dubai Police Stations Board of Directors.
