His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, attended a UAE-hosted Youth Dialogue in New York on Sunday on the sidelines of the 81st United Nations General Assembly.
The event brought together 52 young people from 10 countries, as well as Emirati students studying in the United States, to discuss challenges and opportunities facing younger generations.
Discussions covered the impact of conflict and climate change, advances in technology and artificial intelligence, education and employment, and the role young people can play in building safer and more sustainable communities.
Sheikh Abdullah said young people should be involved in discussions and decisions on issues affecting their communities, describing them as partners in shaping the present as well as future leaders.
He also highlighted the importance of giving young people opportunities to develop solutions and partnerships rather than only seeking their views.
Minister of State for International Cooperation Reem bint Ebrahim Al Hashimy and Assistant Foreign Minister for Advanced Science and Technology Omran Sharaf took part in a panel discussion during the event.
Al Hashimy highlighted the role of young people in areas including entrepreneurship, innovation and supporting communities affected by crises.
Sharaf focused on the opportunities created by artificial intelligence and other advanced technologies, as well as the need to equip young people with the skills to use them effectively.
The Youth Dialogue was held for the second consecutive year on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly.
