Sharjah is moving ahead with a major new recreational project in Kalba.
His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, has approved plans for Al Freish Lake, spanning approximately 51,200 square metres with the capacity to store up to 28 million gallons of water.
The project will include 200 parking spaces and a range of facilities designed to enhance the visitor experience.
Sheikh Sultan said the lake, located behind Al Marsh Square and stretching around 750 metres, is being developed as a family-friendly destination similar to the Al Rafisah Dam project.
Landscaping is already underway, with trees being planted on the surrounding mountain, while waterfalls among the trees will flow towards the sea, adding to the natural setting.
