Sharjah Police apprehended a driver who used a windscreen sunshade while driving that blocked his view before issuing a AED2,000 fine.
Under Article (1) of the Road Traffic Law, it is illegal to impede your vision while driving by any means, especially when it limits your ability to monitor the road and respond to sudden situations that increase the likelihood of accidents.
The police declared the incident a serious traffic violation that threatened the driver's life and other road users.
Along with the fine, the driver also received 23 black points and had the vehicle used impounded for 60 days.
Sharjah police have called on drivers to adhere to road traffic rules and refrain from using any means that impact the clarity of vision in order to preserve the safety of life and property.
They also reaffirmed that it will continue monitoring and taking action against dangerous driving practices as part of its efforts to protect lives, safeguard property and enhance road safety across the emirate.
