NULL

The world’s first purpose-built centre dedicated to paediatric research into rare diseases has now been named. Set to open in 2018 in London, The ‘Zayed Centre for Research into Rare Disease in Children’ has been facilitated by an AED 334 million donation by H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, the wife of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the Chairwoman of the UAE General Women's Union, Supreme Chairwoman of the UAE Family Development Foundation and President of the UAE Supreme Council of Motherhood and Childhood. Developed as a partnership between Great Ormond Street Hospital, its children’s charity and University College London, the centre will welcome around 400 staff and 200 patients. Since 2010, approximately 1,300 children from the UAE have been treated at Great Ormond Street for a range of conditions.
