Abu Dhabi has opened a new central control room to oversee and monitor autonomous vehicle operations across the emirate, strengthening safety as self-driving transport services continue to expand.
The facility, launched by the Integrated Transport Centre (ITC), uses advanced technology to track autonomous vehicles in real time, monitor routes and speeds, analyse trip data, and coordinate emergency responses when required.
The control room will also manage permits and approve operating routes, helping ensure autonomous vehicle services meet safety and regulatory standards.
The ITC says the new facility is a major step in supporting the growth of smart mobility while providing stronger oversight of self-driving transport.
