There are temporary restrictions placed on the import of general cargo arriving at Dubai International Airport.
This was confirmed in a statement to the ARN News Centre from the Dubai National Air Travel Agency (DNATA).
"DNATA can confirm that the temporary restrictions placed on import of general cargo arriving at Dubai International Airport will now apply only from Sunday 17 October 2021, 00.01 until Tuesday, 19 October 2021 at 00.01 (local time Dubai)," the statement read.
The authorities said they are working on the situation and have managed to reduce the impacted time from six days to two days.
The backlog of cargo is reportedly caused by "extraordinarily high volumes of cargo flown to Dubai," according to the statement.
"We would like to reassure the air logistics community and our customers that we are working non-stop to resume normal operations at the earliest."
