As many as 691 prisoners have been pardoned in Dubai ahead of the holy month of Ramadan.

Their release was ordered by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

Dubai Public Prosecution, in collaboration with Dubai Police, has started the legal procedures to implement Sheikh Mohammed’s directive.

Essam Issa Al-Humaidan, Attorney General of Dubai, said the pardon reflects Sheikh Mohammed’s keenness to reunite the inmates with their families during the holy month, which gives the released prisoners an opportunity to get a fresh start in life and reintegrate into the community.
