Emirates is temporarily suspending passenger operations to and from South Africa (Johannesburg, Durban Cape Town), Zimbabwe (Harare) and Zambia (Lusaka).

The move, an Emirates spokesperson confirmed to ARN News, was "due to the evolving COVID-19 situation".

Passengers who already have tickets for travel to and from these cities have been asked to maintain their bookings until flights resume.

Meanwhile, travellers originating from, or transiting from, Bostwana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa and Zimbabwe will not be accepted for travel into Dubai with effect from November 29 until further notice.

The move was taken by authorities in the UAE due to concerns surrounding the new COVID variant.
