The Emirates Red Crescent (ERC) has sent a medical aid shipment containing COVID-19 vaccine doses to Syria.
The shipment will assist frontline medical workers, elderly people, individuals suffering from chronic diseases and displaced people in refugee camps.
The vaccine doses aim to assist the country’s health sector, curb the spread of the coronavirus and reduce the negative repercussions caused by the virus.
In coordination with the Syrian Red Crescent, the ERN also donated food aid to provide for the people of Syria ahead of the holy month of Ramadan.
The ERC had previously sent, in coordination with the Syrian Red Crescent Organisation, a medical aid shipment weighing 97.2 tonnes, which included medical supplies, personal protection equipment and testing kits.
These items helped enhance the capacities of medical teams and frontline workers.
