Some flights operating at Dubai International (DXB) and Dubai World Central – Al Maktoum International (DWC) were cancelled or delayed on Friday due to adverse weather conditions.

In an update, Dubai Airports urged travellers to check with the airlines for the latest updates before heading to the airport.

"There is water accumulation on some roads. Please allow extra time for your journey. If possible, use the metro," their statement added.

In an interview with Dubai Eye 103.8's Business Breakfast show on Friday, Dubai Airports CEO Paul Griffiths said a significant number of flights were cancelled since Thursday evening.

He added that both airports are making sure to minimise the impact of any delays or cancellations, with a few diversions reported.
